<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a receiver side to satisfactorily perform display processing of a stereoscopic image. <P>SOLUTION: Image data of a predetermined number of views is acquired: For example, acquired is: the image data of at least left-end and right-end ones of a plurality of views to be used for displaying a stereoscopic image; and the image data of a middle view located between the left and right ends, for example, a center view. Then, transmitted is a container of a predetermined format containing a video stream acquired by encoding the image data. View constituent information, which at least contains information indicative of relative positions of the predetermined number of views, is inserted into a layer of the video stream. Since the transmission is performed with the view constituent information inserted into the layer of the video stream, a receiver side can easily grasp the relative positions of the views and satisfactorily perform display processing of the stereoscopic image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
