An inflatable mattress comprising a plurality of layered transverse cells arranged in a side by side arrangement to define a support surface wherein each cell has an upper chamber 2 extending across the width of the mattress, first and second turning chambers 9 positioned under the upper chamber 2 with one on each side of a central axis and apertures 8 formed between the upper chamber 2 and each of the turning chambers 9 and two longitudinal cells each received through a plurality of aligned apertures 8 thereby connecting the transverse cells together. The cells may be arranged to provide alternating regions of pressure and may be formed using welded seams. Inflation of the cells may also be used to turn a patient. Also disclosed is a connector for a pump wherein the connector has individual release modes for when CPR is required and when the device is required to be transported. |
