The present invention relates to a power supply apparatus for a black box for precisely recording a file on an SD memory even when a problem occurs in a supercapacitor by completely charging the supercapacitor provided in the black box before the black box starts recording the file on the SD memory and a method for the same. The power supply apparatus for a black box of the present invention comprises: a power supply unit supplying charging power in response to a power supply control signal and cutting off the charging power in response to a power cut-off control signal; a charging unit including a plurality of cells and charging the cells with power for charging supplied from the power supply unit; a voltage measuring unit measuring the charging voltage of the cells and outputting the measured charging voltage of the cells; a temperature sensor measuring the heating temperature of the charging unit and outputting the measured heating temperature of the charging unit; and a control unit generating the power supply control signal or the power cut-off control signal based on the charging voltage of the cells measured by the voltage measuring unit and the heating temperature measured by the temperature sensor to output the generated power supply control signal or the power cut-off control signal to the power supply unit. Accordingly, damage to a file system due to a lost chain or file missing can be prevented.
