The present invention relates to a network system for a vehicle and a method for operating the network system, which are capable of easily increasing reception efficiency of data to be transmitted and received when CAN communication is performed between a transmitting ECU and a receiving ECU. The present invention provides a network system for a vehicle, comprising: a transmitting ECU which transmits data to be transmitted and alive counter values for the data; and a receiving ECU which performs CAN communication with the transmission ECU, and acquires the data according to a polling schedule for the data, which is determined based on the received alive counter values. |
