The portable electronic device, in particular an electronic card, includes at least one electronic unit (4) which is associated to an optical switch (12) which can be actuated by a user and which is formed by two photo-detectors (6, 8) arranged sufficiently far from each other in the electronic device to enable said user to cover only one of said two photo-detectors with one finger. The switch comprises a logical circuit (14) to which are provided a first and a second light reception signal (51, 52) respectively coming from the two photo-detectors. The logical circuit is arranged to supply a signal (S3) which only indicated actuation of said optical switch when said first and second light reception signals correspond to two different logical states for said logic circuit.
