Disclosed are a content providing method by using an important friend by topic and a content providing server for performing the method. The content providing method may include: a step of determining the topic with respect to a user; a step of determining at least one among the important friends in connection with the topic; a step of acquiring content consumed by the determined important friend; and a step of providing the user with the acquired content.
