The present invention relates to an apparatus to charge a battery of a vehicle. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus to charge a battery of a vehicle comprises: a battery unit; a motor unit comprising a first winding and a second winding to divide a stator winding having different phases, a circuit changing switch to change the status of electric connection between the first winding and the second winding for each phase, and a wall socket to connect a three-phase system voltage and the circuit changing switch; an inverter unit to convert the output voltage between the battery unit and the motor unit; and a control unit to divide the case where the three-phase system voltage is connected to the wall socket and the case where the three-phase system voltage is separated from the wall socket and to control the circuit changing switch to change the status of the electric connection between the first winding and the second winding to be changed differently. The present invention uses a motor-inverter driving system placed in an electric vehicle, not a separate charger, and reduces the number of parts in the electric vehicle in charging the battery of the electric vehicle by using a system voltage or generating power with a system using the charged battery. The present invention reduces the weight of the motor and material costs by dividing and realizing the stator winding into the first winding and the second winding. The present invention prevents the volume of the charging device and the material costs from increasing in accordance with an addition of an inverter by controlling the current flowing in the second winding without adding a separate inverter. |
