Class 61 (ii) A device for pointing walls comprises a vessel having a spring-pressed piston for compacting a charge of mortar placed therein, a slot in the vessel through which the mortar is discharged and a ramming blade slidable in the bottom of the vessel for forcing the mortar into the joint. The vessel 10 is held in the left hand by the handle 25 and moved along the joint, the handle of the blade 42 being pushed inwards with the right hand to eject mortar through the slot 46. The lower edge of the blade is pivoted to two parallel arms 38, 39 which ride against the inside of the side walls of the vessel and pass through slots 36, 37. Stops 44 and 45 cause the blade to assume an upright position when the handle is pushed forward; on withdrawal of the handle the blade engages a pin 69 and swings to a downturned position. A detachable tool 47, Fig. 4, having channelled flanges 49, 51 which slide on ribs 52, 53 on the edges of the slot 46 has an open ended slot 48 for the passage of the mortar and lips 57 having a sliding fit in the mortar joint. The tool has an integral tongue 56 for moulding the laid mortar. Tools having tongues of different contour may be provided. The piston rod 14 is slidable-in the arm of bracket 16 adjustably attached to the vessel. Means are provided for attaching the handle 25 to the opposite side of the vessel. |
