PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of optimally executing the conveyance of a recording sheet in accordance with image formation by speed control of registration rollers.SOLUTION: When a recording sheet P1 passes a second conveyance path, a roller group is rotated at a first conveyance speed Vs while a pair of registration rollers 86 are stopped so as to allow a tip of the recording sheet P1 to abut on the pair of registration rollers 86 and form a loop PR of a first prescribed length L1 in the recording sheet P1. After that, the pair of registration rollers 86 is rotated at a second conveyance speed Vh increased than the first conveyance speed Vs while the roller group is rotated at the first conveyance speed Vs.
