A method and apparatus for installing a software aircraft part in an aircraft. A command to install the software aircraft part is received (118, 800). A determination is made as to whether the software aircraft part is present in the aircraft (804). A third party verifies that the software aircraft part is to be installed when the software aircraft part is present in the aircraft (806). The third party is in a location remote to the aircraft (116). An installation of the software aircraft part in the aircraft is performed (810) when the software aircraft part is present in the aircraft and the software aircraft part is verified for the installation (808). The aircraft operates with the software aircraft part installed in the aircraft. |
