PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To support the bending moment generated at a bumper beam by a collision load by using a bumper beam extension, and to generate proper deceleration for operating an airbag.SOLUTION: A bumper beam 12 including continuous fibers which are distributed over the whole length in a vehicle width direction is formed into a U-shape at a cross section which is released to the inside of a fore-and-aft direction, and has inclined parts which are inclined toward the inside of the fore-and-aft direction at both ends in the vehicle width direction. A bumper beam extension 13 which is formed hollow in a closed cross section comprises inclined pats which are fit and fixed to the inclined parts of the bumper beam 12, and inclined along a bottom wall 12a of the bumper beam 12 at an outside end in the fore-and-aft direction. By this constitution, an impact can be absorbed from an initial stage of a collision, but also an airbag can be properly deployed by generating the deceleration of a vehicle body from the initial stage of the collision.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
