PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine the presence or absence of the attachment of a seatbelt to a vehicle occupant during the traveling of a vehicle, or to quickly determine the presence or absence of an abnormality of the seatbelt during the traveling of the vehicle, related to a vehicle occupant detection device and a seatbelt abnormality determination device.SOLUTION: An occupant detection device mounted to a vehicle having a telescopic seatbelt attached to a vehicle occupant who is seated on a vehicle seat, and a motor for winding the seatbelt comprises: counter electromotive force discrimination means which discriminates whether or not a counter electromotive force is generated at the motor; and occupant discrimination means which discriminates whether or not the seatbelt is attached to the vehicle occupant who is seated on the vehicle seat on the basis of a discrimination result by the counter electromotive force discrimination means during the traveling of the vehicle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
