PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly acquire an image in which a noise due to a foreign substance is compensated.SOLUTION: A medium processing apparatus includes: an oscillation control part that performs control of oscillating first light for acquiring an image of a medium and second light that is light in a wavelength region other than that of the first light and for detecting a foreign substance in a light path of the first light; a foreign substance detection part that detects the position of the foreign substance before a medium that is conveyed on a conveyance path is conveyed to an irradiation position at which the medium is irradiated with the first light, on the basis of a signal from a line sensor that has received the second light reflected on a reflector that is formed at the irradiation position and reflects the second light; and an image processing part that corrects pixels corresponding to the position of the foreign substance detected by the foreign substance detection part, and performs image processing on the medium on the basis of a signal from the line sensor when the medium is irradiated with the first light to form an image of the medium.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
