PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus that writes over recorded video to record new video and is capable of inhibiting an image of the moment when an event like an accident occurred from being erased.SOLUTION: A drive recorder 1, having a continuous recording function for recording video captured at a vehicle by writing it over recorded video, includes an overwrite inhibiting function for inhibiting overwriting when a vehicle is in a predetermined stopped state.
