PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing unit that has a mechanism that performs driving of rollers and changing of a fixing nip pressure by switching the direction of rotation of one gear in different directions and suppresses displacement of an input gear that easily occurs due to a driving force, and an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: There is provided an image forming apparatus including a fixing unit and a storage part, the fixing unit including two rollers for forming a fixing nip part, a pressure adjustment mechanism for changing a nip pressure, one gear 51 that receives a rotation power in a first direction for driving the two rollers and a rotation power in a second direction for the pressure adjustment mechanism, and a gear cover 80 that supports a bearing 51b supporting the rotation shaft 51a of the gear in a long hole 81 that makes the bearing movable in a direction Y perpendicular to an insertion direction X, where the gear cover 80 has a projection 82 projecting in the direction Y; the storage part includes a receiving part that supports the bearing 51b of the gear when the fixing unit is inserted; the receiving part has a recess that engages with the projection 82 of the gear cover 80 that is movable with respect to the bearing 51b of the gear when the fixing unit is inserted.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 13 |
