PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a nonaqueous secondary battery which enables the reduction in battery internal resistance; and a method for manufacturing such a nonaqueous secondary battery.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous secondary battery of the present invention comprises: a positive electrode; a negative electrode; an electrolytic solution including an electrolyte and a nonaqueous solvent. The positive electrode has: a positive electrode current collector; and a positive electrode active material layer covering the surface of the positive electrode current collector and including a positive electrode active material. The negative electrode has: a negative electrode current collector; a negative electrode active material layer covering the surface of the negative electrode current collector and including a negative electrode active material; and a protection layer covering the surface of the negative electrode active material layer and including an inorganic oxide and a binding agent. In the electrolytic solution, the content of water is 800 ppm or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
