PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of authenticating a user by use of various kinds of IC cards or the like.SOLUTION: An information processing system includes an image forming apparatus, one or more authentication servers for managing rights of using the image forming apparatus, and a binding server for managing the authentication servers. The information processing system includes: storage means for storing authentication server information indicating an authentication server bound to a medium identifier; storage means for storing right information indicating the rights of using the image forming apparatus; input means for reading the medium identifier from the authentication medium; specifying means which specifies a bound authentication server, on the basis of the authentication server information; transmission means which transmits the medium identifier to the specified authentication server; authentication means which determines whether the image forming apparatus is available or not, in association with the authentication medium, on the basis of the right information stored in the storage means and the medium identifier; and control means which controls the image forming apparatus, on the basis of a determination of the authentication means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
