PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turbo compound engine capable of circulating an EGR gas to a supply air side while suppressing loss of energy.SOLUTION: A turbo compound engine includes: an internal combustion engine 2; a turbo charger 5 having a turbine 3 driven by an exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine 2 and having a compressor 4 for compressing supply air to the internal combustion engine 2 by torque of the turbine 3; an EGR passage 8 for circulating the exhaust gas from an exhaust passage 6 between the internal combustion engine 2 and the turbine 3 to an air supply passage 7 between the internal combustion engine 2 and the compressor 4; an EGR valve 9 disposed in the EGR passage 8 and capable of opening and closing the EGR passage 8; a turbo compound 10 driven by the exhaust gas discharged from the turbine 3; a continuously variable transmission 11 for decelerating rotation from the turbo compound 10 so that it is synchronized with rotation of the engine; a clutch 13 for connecting and disconnecting a power transmission system 12 between the continuously variable transmission 11 and the internal combustion engine 2; and a control device 14 for controlling the clutch 13 and the continuously variable transmission 11 to adjust an EGR amount.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
