PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize a charge procedure used when charging a battery pack of an electric automobile.SOLUTION: The optimization is made at least partially based on a planned departure time and a planned travel distance. Based on user travel information, a process determines an optimal charge level, which maximizes the life time of the battery pack and guarantees a vehicle to have sufficient energy to travel the planned distance, and also determines an optimal charge speed which maximizes the life time of the battery pack and guarantees that the battery pack is charged to the optimal charge level before the planned departure time.
