PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately control a load to be inputted from a bumper beam extension to a side frame and achieve both appropriate folding of the side frame and an energy absorption effect thereof.SOLUTION: A bumper beam extension 13 supported to outer ends in a longitudinal direction of a pair of left and right side frame 15 is set to have a plate thickness enough to generate collision loads below bearing force of the side frames 15 from the initial time through the middle time of a collision, and set to have a plate thickness outside in a vehicle width direction enough to fold and deform the side frames 15 at the later time of the collision. As the collision loads inputted from the initial time to the middle time of the collision press and crush only the bumper beam extension 13 to absorb collision energy, and the collision loads inputted at the later time of the collision make bending moments to act on the side frame 15 to fold the frames so as to absorb collision energy, energy absorption amounts can be increased while reducing the plate thickness of the bumper beam extension 13 to the minimum to reduce weight thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
