The present invention relates to a power conversion apparatus, which can be variably used as an active front end (AFE) type power conversion apparatus or a diode front end (DFE) type power conversion apparatus as necessary. The power conversion apparatus includes: a first power conversion module and a second power conversion module connected between an AC power source and a system for converting power supplied from the AC power source to provide the converted power to the system; and a circulation wiring for connecting an output terminal of the second power conversion module and an input terminal of the second power conversion module. The first power conversion module includes a first direct current link unit and the second power conversion module includes a second direct current link unit, and the first direct current link unit and the second direct current link unit are connected in parallel. When a counter electromotive force occurs in the system, a part of the counter electromotive force is stored in the first direct current link unit and the second direct current link unit, and the rest of the counter electromotive force is supplied to the input terminal of the second power conversion module through the output terminal of the second power conversion module and the circulation wiring. |
