The present invention relates to a ballast water treatment system on a ship and a method thereof and, more specifically, relates to a ballast water treatment system on a ship and a method thereof, which are able to sterilize ballast water of the ship with a supercritical fluid, to let the supercritical fluid completely destroy microorganisms, bacteria, or the like, and to immediately discharge the ballast water to the sea without a separate treatment. That is, the present invention can meet the regulations on discharge of ballast water to the sea without discharging a chemical solvent to the sea and without causing a disturbance in the ecosystem. Supercritical fluid has a high sterilizing effect and no toxicity, and does not remain. Thus, it can minimize the impact on the environment. According to the present invention, provided are a ballast water treatment system on a ship, comprising: a filter unit to filter out foreign substances in ballast water; and a supercritical fluid reaction unit to make the ballast water filtered by the filter unit into a supercritical status and to kill microorganisms in the filtered ballast water, and a method thereof. |
