PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope apparatus capable of obtaining image information in a short time, the image information representing a distribution in a biological substance, such as an oxygen saturation degree.SOLUTION: An endoscope apparatus includes a light source device 400, an imager 141 to image a biological tissue illuminated by light from the light source device to generate image data, and an index calculation unit 500 to calculate an index X representing a molar concentration ratio of first and second biological substances contained in the biological tissue on the basis of the image data. The light source device alternates between light in a first illumination wavelength range and light in a second illumination wavelength range within the first illumination wavelength range absorbed by the first and second biological substances.
