PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a printer from frequently stopping and reduce the complex work of an operator.SOLUTION: A printer supplies a current to a spacing (SP) motor to rotate the SP motor, and moves a print head in the SP direction to perform printing on a printing medium. The printer comprises: an SP load determination part 38 which determines the load fluctuation on the SP motor on the basis of the rotational speed of the SP motor and the current value supplied to the SP motor; and a retry SP operation control part 39 which executes a retry printing operation for performing printing by stopping the SP operation temporarily and moving the print head in the SP direction again. The SP load determination part 38 determines whether the load fluctuation of the SP motor is the first fluctuation in which continuation of the SP control to the SP motor is possible or the second fluctuation in which the continuation is impossible, and makes the retry SP operation control part 39 execute the retry printing when the determination result is the second fluctuation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
