PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiving device, a receiving method, and a program that can display a hierarchically encoded content with high definition.SOLUTION: A receiving device 10 comprises: a broadcast reception part 11 which receives a broadcast wave including at least one piece of difference information among a plurality of pieces of difference information after a content is hierarchically separated; a communication part 12 which communicates with other devices connected to a network; and a network connection determination part 176 which determines whether the communication part 12 can receive at least one piece of difference information which is not included in the broadcast wave among the plurality of pieces of difference information.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
