A color image forming apparatus (10) comprises: an image forming means (20 to 25) which is configured to form misregistration detection patterns; a transfer member (30) on which the misregistration detection patterns are transferred; a plurality of detection means (6L and 6R) which are configured to detect the misregistration detection patterns transferred onto the transfer member; a calculation means (1) which is configured to calculate misregistration values from results of the detection; and a control means (1) which is configured to control an image forming condition by the image forming means based on the misregistration values. The image forming means forms first and second marks at different positions in a direction perpendicular to a moving direction of the transfer member as the misregistration detection patterns, and the calculation means calculates the misregistration values based on detection results of the first and second marks. |
