Producing pure hydrogen comprises passing a synthesis gas through an upstream of a presses swing adsorption (PSA) purification unit (1008) into an exchanger (1006) for complete condensation of the water contained in the gas discharged from an autothermal reforming reactor (ATR), where the exchanger comprises a first portion which performs cooling of the synthesis gas using a cold fluid to the desulfurized load, and a second portion that continues cooling to total condensation of the water contained in the synthesis gas to 15-40[deg] C using cooling water cooled by a cooling tower.
