The method involves allowing a gas load comprising one of acid compounds such as carbon dioxide, and hydrogen sulfide to be in contact with an acid absorbing solution in a contact zone. The gas load in contact with the acid absorbing solution is allowed to produce an absorbing solution that is enriched with acid compounds. The contact zone is arranged with a monolith contactor (2) with two juxtaposed channels. The channels are closed, and the channels are provided with openings at an end of the monolith contactor. Each of the channels includes a bypass section.
