The method involves driving a generator (11) by a thermal engine (12) to generate electricity from a movement of the engine. Another generator (21) is driven by a wheel (22) to generate the electricity from a movement of the wheel. The engine is switched off to control recuperation of energy from the movement of the wheel via the latter generator. A signal is emitted to control output voltages of the generators. A current speed value of a thermal vehicle is compared with an upper threshold value. Another signal is emitted to prohibit recuperation of the energy via the latter generator. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for recuperation of energy for a thermal vehicle (2) a thermal vehicle.
