PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of detecting a poor accommodated state of loaded recording paper, and an image forming apparatus including the paper feeder.SOLUTION: A paper feeder 4 includes first and second accommodation sections 4A and 4B which are arranged side by side in a housing 41 along a recording paper conveyance direction, each section loading recording paper P1 in a specified accommodation orientation. A bundle of the recording paper loaded in the second accommodation section 4B can be shifted to the first accommodation section 4A arranged on a downstream side of the recording paper conveyance direction. The paper feeder has a non-loaded region between the first and second accommodation sections 4A and 4B. In the non-loaded region, there are provided erroneous loading detection parts 406 and 407 for detecting whether or not the recording paper P1 is loaded. The erroneous loading detection parts 406 and 407 detect the recording paper P1 accommodated in an orientation other than the specified accommodation orientation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
