摘要 Provided are a communication system and a communication device wherein a reception node can estimate the delay time, generation time point, or the like of a message and wherein said estimation function can be implemented at low cost. A delay time estimation unit 41 of an ECU 3 determines whether a message received thereby has been transmitted continuously with another message, even if a transmission node does not append time information. When the received message has been transmitted continuously with another message, because it is possible that the received message has been delayed by arbitration processing, the delay time estimation unit 41 investigates the priority of one or more other continuous messages from the time of or preceding the received message and, in accordance with the priority of each message, estimates the time that the received message was delayed by the arbitration processing. On the basis of the delay time estimated by the delay time estimation unit 41, a generation time point estimation unit 42 estimates the point in time at which the received message was generated by an ECU of a transmission source.
