A rotary encoder is provided with: a rotary slit plate 25 on which a code pattern 26 is formed; a first light projection element 22a for irradiating light; first light reception elements 23a, 24a for receiving the light and generating signals corresponding to the rotation of the rotary slit plate 25; a first signal processing unit for processing the signals and outputting the processed signals to the outside; a first printed circuit board 30a on which the first signal processing unit and first light reception elements 23a, 24a are provided; a second light projection element 22b for irradiating light; second light reception elements 23b, 24b for receiving the light and generating signals corresponding to the rotation of the rotary slit plate 25; a second signal processing unit for processing the signals and outputting the processed signals to the outside; and a second printed circuit board 30b on which the second signal processing unit and second light reception elements 23b, 24b are provided. |
