PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector system for measuring radioactive materials.SOLUTION: A fluid path receives at least one aliquot of a radiopharmaceutical. The fluid path places the aliquot within a concave-shaped positioner. A detector is located at an axial distance from a concave surface (of the positioner) to determine the level of radioactivity of the aliquot. Alternatively, the fluid path may be less concave and a variable attenuator may be placed between the fluid path and the detector. The variable attenuator may have a concavity which is determined in relation with concavity of the fluid path to optimize ability of the detector to measure radioactivity. A method for forming aliquots of radiopharmaceuticals in a concave fluid passage is also disclosed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1a |
