PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible efficiently and satisfactorily clean a brush roller without affecting the life of a photoreceptor drum as much as possible, and reduce a possibility that a toner falls from the brush roller onto the outer peripheral surface of an intermediate transfer belt to leave stains on an image during image formation.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming part, intermediate transfer belt, brush roller, driving mechanism, contact/separation mechanism, and operation control part. The operation control part has a cleaning operation mode of performing control to clean the brush roller during non-image formation, and in the cleaning operation mode, causes the contact/separation mechanism to separate the photoreceptor drum from the intermediate transfer belt, and causes the driving mechanism to drive to rotate the brush roller in the separation state at a rotation speed faster than a rotation speed of the brush roller during image formation and to drive the intermediate transfer belt.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 |
