PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which performs printing operations of transferring ink of each color twice and can improve the image quality, and a control method of the same.SOLUTION: A thermal transfer type printer brings an ink ribbon into pressure contact with a roll sheet by using a thermal head, heats the thermal head and transfers ink of each color and overcoat of the ink ribbon to the roll sheet. The printer includes a first mode of transferring ink of each color twice. In the first mode, the printer executes a pseudo printing operation of conveying the ink ribbon and the roll sheet without transferring the overcoat while bringing the ink ribbon into pressure contact with the roll sheet by using the thermal head after completion of transfer of ink of each color in the first time and before execution of transfer of ink of each color in the second time.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
