Disclosed are a loss prevention system and a control method thereof, and a recording medium to perform the same. The loss prevention system includes: a protector terminal to transmit a signal periodically; a loss prevention device which is switched from a sleep mode to a wakeup mode non-periodically at each of multiple small sections divided in a predetermined large time section, and receives the signal transmitted from the protector terminal under the state of being switched to the wakeup mode, and transmits a missing message to persons who are around if the signal is not received from the protector terminal in the large section; another protector terminal which transmits corresponding information to a management server if the missing message is received from the loss prevention device; and the management server which calculates a current position of the loss prevention device in a lost state using the information received form the other protector terminal and transmits the current position to the corresponding protector terminal. The loss prevention system can minimize power consumption of the loss prevention device.
