PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin lens-drive unit.SOLUTION: A lens drive unit of the present invention includes: a lens holder that holds a lens having an optical axis; a frame having at least one magnet mounted thereon; at least one focusing coil mounted on the lens holder and positioned between the at least one magnet and the lens holder; an elastic focusing mechanism that is disposed between the lens holder and the frame to keep the lens holder movably positioned on the optical axis; and an image sensor having a certain length and width and aligned with the optical axis. The lens drive unit is characterized in that the length of the image sensor determines a long axis length of the lens in a plane perpendicular to the optical axis, and that the width of the image sensor determines a width of the lens in the plane perpendicular to the optical axis.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
