PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing indium oxide in which chlorine and sodium contained in the process is efficiently removed and to provide indium oxide produced by the method.SOLUTION: The method for producing indium oxide comprises adding an indium chloride aqueous solution or an aqueous solution containing a metal salt composed mainly of indium chloride to a sodium hydroxide aqueous solution, adjusting the pH to 9 to 10 to generate indium hydroxide, filtering the generated indium hydroxide, dispersing the indium hydroxide to a solution having a pH of 8 to 9 and stirring/washing the same and filtering the indium hydroxide to recover the same; further dispersing the indium hydroxide to a solution having a pH of 4 to 5 and stirring/washing the same and filtering the indium hydroxide; and then calcining. In the process of neutralizing an indium chloride aqueous solution or an aqueous solution containing a metal salt composed mainly of indium chloride as a raw material to form indium hydroxide and calcining the same to produce indium oxide, chlorine and sodium contained in the process are efficiently removed.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
