PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of reducing the size of a contact/separation mechanism that brings into contact or separates a process member with/from an image carrier.SOLUTION: There is provided a contact/separation mechanism switching between a contact state where a process member 17 acting on an image carrier 2 is in contact with the image carrier 2 and a separation state where the process member 17 is separated from the image carrier 2, the contact/separation mechanism having a support member 20 that supports the process member 17 and can move with respect to the image carrier 2 and an actuator 23 that uses a deformable body 23Rb(Lb) that is deformed upon application of a voltage, where the actuator 23 moves the support member 20 through the deformation of the deformable body 23Rb(Lb), thereby switching between the contact state and separation state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
