This scroll compressor is a scroll compressor for compressing a fluid by means of a compression chamber that is formed by combining the spiral of a stationary scroll with the spiral of an orbiting scroll, and is characterized in that the spiral of the stationary scroll and the spiral of the orbiting scroll are respectively equipped with a bulb-shaped spiral starting section where multiple arcs connect between a point where an outward surface involute curve starts to expand and a point where an inward surface involute curve starts to expand, at least one of the spiral starting sections is formed into an n-stepped shape wherein n (n ≥ 3) bulb shapes are stacked together in the erecting direction of the spiral, and when the angles of the outward surface involution curve at the expansion starting points of the respective steps of the step-shaped spiral starting section are denoted as &phgr;os (0), &phgr;os (1), &phgr;os (2), …, and &phgr;os (n-1) in order from the tooth tip side toward the tooth base side, the angles have the relationship of &phgr;os (0) > &phgr;os (1) > &phgr;os (2) … > &phgr;os (n-1). |
