PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus in which a transparent glass plate 13 is less likely to be soiled from the inside even when a drive motor 5 is warmed with the accumulation of the consecutive reciprocative operation of an image reader 34.SOLUTION: A drive motor 5 and a drive transmission mechanism D for generating a drive force of a toothed belt 8 fixed to the image reader 34 are arranged outside a casing 7. A driving sheet metal 3 is fitted to the exterior of the casing 7 to support the drive motor 5 and the drive transmission mechanism D. A toothed pulley 2 engaging with the toothed belt 8 locates its engaging part with the toothed belt 8 in an intra-casing space 7s and locate its engaging part with the drive transmission mechanism D outside the intra-casing space 7s, through a driving opening bored in the casing 7.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
