PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide iron-chelating agents to remove iron from the body of a patient in need of repeating blood transfusion for thalassemia major, thalassemia intermediate and sickle cell anemia etc.SOLUTION: The dispersible tablet contains, as an active ingredient, 4-[3,5-bis(2-hydroxyphenyl)-[1,2,4]triazol-1-yl]benzoic acid (represented by the following formula) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in an amount of 5-40 weight% of the total weight of the tablet. For example, the pharmaceutical dispersible tablet of the invention is easy for administering to adults and children for treating thalassemia, with a pharmacologically active daily dosage of 5-40 mg/kg body weight/day, preferably 5-30 mg/kg body weight/day for children.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
