PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of suppressing fluctuations in writing voltage by punch-through voltage of a switch element.SOLUTION: A method for driving a display device includes the steps of: making a capacitive element 210 hold a threshold voltage of a drive transistor 202 by putting a switch 205 into a conductive state and a switch 203 into a non-conductive state with the reference voltage applied to a gate of the drive transistor 202 (threshold voltage detecting step); writing data voltage into the capacitive element 210 by putting the switch 205 into the non-conductive state and the switch 203 into the conductive state (writing step); applying the current according to the data voltage to an organic EL element 201 by putting the switch 205 into the conductive state (light emitting step); and extracting the electric charge accumulated in a drain of the drive transistor 202 into a source of the drive transistor 202 till the drain and the source become the same potential between the ending time of the threshold voltage detecting step) and the ending time of the writing step (electric charge extracting step).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7B |
