摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate hydrogen embrittlement of a steel product with mill scale under an alkaline environment.SOLUTION: A method comprises, for a plate-shaped steel product 3 with mill scale sandwiched between two baths filled with an alkaline solution: a potential application step of applying a potential that is electronegative than a hydrogen generation potential and within the stability region of the steel product 3 to a surface of the steel product 3 contacting with a cathode bath 1, and applying a potential that is sufficiently electropositive to oxidize hydrogen having penetrated the steel product 3 to a surface of the steel product 3 contacting with an anode bath 2; a current measurement step of measuring changes in detected current with time by the oxidation of hydrogen having penetrated the steel product 3 by applying the potentials; and a time measurement step of determining, using a measurement result, a time that is taken from the start of applying the potentials until an increasing rate of detected current is increased by a predetermined value or more.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
