PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a wavelength conversion member arranged so that the occurrence of curl: a method for manufacturing such a wavelength conversion member; a device for manufacturing a wavelength conversion member; a backlight unit having such a wavelength conversion member; and a liquid crystal display device.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a wavelength conversion member 1 comprises the steps of: applying a polymerizable composition including quantum dots onto one face of a first base material 10, thereby forming a coating film 30M; putting a second base material 20 on the coating film 30M, thereby using the first base material 10 and the second base material 20 to hold the coating film 30M therebetween; and casting activation energy rays Eon the coating film 30M from one face thereof to cure the coating film and casting activation energy rays Eon the coating film 30M from the other face to cure the coating film 30M, thereby forming a wavelength conversion layer 30. In the wavelength conversion member, the indentation hardness N1 of the wavelength conversion layer 30 on the side of the first base material 10 and the indentation hardness N2 on the side of the second base material 20 are in the relation given by: |N1-N2|≤20 MPa.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
