A display device (10) is provided with a foldable housing unit (100), and a flexible display panel (200). The housing unit (100) is provided with a long connecting plate (130), and a lower housing (110) and an upper housing (120), which are connected to the connecting plate (130) via hinge sections (141, 142). The size of the upper housing (120) in the y direction can be changed. In a state wherein the housing unit (100) is open, the upper housing (120), the connecting plate (130), and the upper housing (120) are disposed by being aligned in the y direction on a same plane. In a state wherein the housing unit (100) is folded, the size of the upper housing (120) in the y direction becomes larger than that in the state wherein the housing unit (100) is open, and the display panel (200) is housed within a space surrounded by the upper housing (120), the connecting plate (130), and the upper housing (120). |
