PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inhibitors of lysyl oxidase-like protein 2 (LOXL2) for use in treatment of cancer, abnormal or undesirable angiogenesis and fibrosis.SOLUTION: The invention provides a method that uses an inhibitor of a processed lysyl oxidase or lysyl oxidase-like protein, an inhibitor of LOX and an inhibitor of LOXL, or a synergistic combination of an inhibitor of LOX or LOXL with other one or more therapeutic agents. The invention also provides methods and related compositions, medical instruments, systems and kits for treating or preventing various diseases and conditions associated with fibrosis using the inhibitor. Such diseases or conditions include pathological cardiovascular conditions and diseases such as hypertension, hypertensive heart disease, myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis and restenosis, liver fibrosis, kidney fibrosis, lung fibrosis, dermal scarring and keloids, as well as Alzheimer's disease.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 14 |
