PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress disturbance of an air fuel ratio caused by occurrence of a relative difference between fuel injection timing and intake valve timing in a port injection type internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: A control device for an internal combustion engine for controlling the port injection type internal combustion engine in which an injector for injecting fuel is arranged in the vicinity of an intake port of a cylinder is configured to make a retard correction of timing of injecting fuel from the injector, on condition that the length of a period indicating that an output signal of an air fuel ratio sensor for detecting an air fuel ratio of gas flowing in to an exhaust gas purification catalyst fitted to an exhaust passage is leaner than a predetermined air fuel ratio exceeds a determination threshold value and that subsequently the length of a period indicating that the output signal of the air fuel ratio sensor is higher than the predetermined air fuel ratio exceeds the determination threshold value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
