PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can reduce the number of access and access time to a main memory regardless of the position and inclination of a recording head when performing image formation with free hand scanning.SOLUTION: A printer 10 for performing printing with movement on a print medium comprises at least: a recording head 19 which can simultaneously record a plurality of pixels; positional information calculation means which obtains the current position and inclination of the recording head; a memory 12 which stores image data; and a control part 13 which has image reading means for reading the necessary pixel data from the memory and outputting it to the recording head on the basis of the positional information of the recording head. The image data stored in the memory 12 is divided into blocks at least including a plurality of pixels in the vertical and horizontal directions. The image reading means includes a sub memory which temporarily accumulates the image data and sub memory management means which associates the positional information of the recording head with the image data in the block unit to manage access to the memory.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
