Disclosed is a shock absorber disposed between two members capable of moving relative to each other. In one embodiment, the shock absorber comprises a first cylinder, a second cylinder, a free piston, a shock-absorbing material, a first valve member and liquid. The first cylinder has an open one end. The second cylinder has an open one end communicating with the first cylinder through the one end of the first cylinder, and can move relative to the first cylinder in a state in which the second cylinder comes into close contact with the inner surface or outer surface of the first cylinder. The free piston is arranged in the inner part of the first cylinder and arranged to be slidably displaced along an inner wall of the first cylinder. The shock-absorbing material is accommodated in the inner part of the first cylinder, the inner part corresponding to a space between the other end of the first cylinder and the free piston. The first valve member is arranged in the inner part of the first cylinder or in the inner part of the second cylinder, the inner part corresponding to the space between the free piston and the other end of the second cylinder, hereinafter referred to as a first operating space. The liquid is sealed in the first operating space. The free piston mutually transfers the change in pressure of the liquid and change in pressure of the shock-absorbing material according to the relative movement of the second cylinder with respect to the first cylinder. The first valve member generates damping power by means of the liquid flow generated by means of the relative movement of the second cylinder with respect to the first cylinder. |
